Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has acknowledged strong progress made by VinFast and Hateco in applying technology and automation.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh paid a working visit to VinFast Automobile Manufacturing Complex and Hateco Haiphong International Container Terminal (HHIT) in Hai Phong on December 14.
Accompanying Binh were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Deputy Minister of National Defense, along with leaders of ministries and Central agencies.
Receiving and working with the delegation were Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau, Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau, Standing Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Anh Quan, and leaders of the city’s departments and agencies.

At the working session, a representative of VinFast JSC. reported that by the end of November, the company’s sales had reached 147,450 electric cars, marking the first time the brand surpassed 100,000 electric vehicles sold within the first three quarters of a year. The company aims to develop 400 service workshops by the end of 2025.
Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh congratulated Vingroup, with VinFast as its core, on becoming one of Vietnam’s pioneering forces in applying 4.0 technologies, automating production lines, and developing industrial products with high intellectual content.
Binh believed that VinFast is fully capable of raising its localization rate to over 80% by 2026, moving closer to the goal of building a complete electric vehicle value chain in Vietnam. This would demonstrate Vietnam’s strong rise in a new era defined by technology and innovation.

Working with the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister’s delegation, representatives of Hateco Group reported that HHIT covers a total area of 73 ha and can simultaneously receive two large container vessels of up to 200,000 DWT (at least 18,000 TEU), with a maximum vessel length of 400 m.
The terminal marks an important milestone in the maritime sector, contributing to international trade and creating momentum for economic development in northern Vietnam and nationwide.
HHIT is Vietnam’s first smart port, featuring automated entry and exit gates and semi-automated berths. It can receive the world’s largest vessels and operate direct routes from distant regions such as the west and east coasts of the US. Since officially coming into operation in April, the terminal’s productivity has grown impressively, reaching 30 containers/ hour.

Impressed by the scale of investment and operational efficiency after nearly one year of operation, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said HHIT’s handling of up to 20% of cargo throughput in the Lach Huyen port area clearly demonstrates the strong growth potential of Hai Phong’s seaport sector.
With strong financial capacity, experience in logistics infrastructure development, and a technology-driven orientation, Hateco is well positioned to expand scale, increase capacity, and gradually master automated operating systems, a core global trend in the seaport industry.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that a transparent and open investment environment, together with persistent administrative reform efforts by Hai Phong city, provides an important foundation for the continued development of the seaport business community.
He expressed confidence that with sound orientation and a well-structured development strategy, enterprises like Hateco will continue to affirm the position of Vietnamese brands on regional and international logistics maps.
