Abundant supplies

Although Tet is still about two weeks away, shopping activity has already become bustling at supermarkets, shopping malls and traditional markets. Essential Tet goods such as confectionery, cooking oil, beverages, clothing, household items and festive decorations are available in large quantities with a wide range of designs and options.

While shopping at GO! Supermarket, Ms. Bui Thi Huyen from Le Chan Ward said that Tet goods this year are plentiful and prices remain stable. She noted that she makes it a habit to shop early every year to avoid overcrowding on the days closer to Tet.

Quality control is considered a key factor in safeguarding consumer health and rights as well as maintaining business credibility. As a result, supermarkets and commercial centers have proactively implemented a series of sound measures early.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, manager of GO! Hai Phong, stressed that to meet shopping demand before, during and after Tet 2026, the supermarket prepared its supply well in advance, stocking more than 4,000 product items and rolling out Tet-themed displays and promotional sales from early December 2025. The supermarket has also worked closely with suppliers to ensure uninterrupted supply throughout the Tet holiday and the post-Tet period. Promotional programs have been launched over several weeks to stimulate year-end consumption.

At traditional markets and grocery stores in suburban areas, Tet goods are readily available. Ms. Pham Thi Luyen, owner of a grocery store in Hamlet 4, Vinh Thuan Commune, said her store has increased inventory to meet demand expected to double or even triple compared with normal days.

Market management measures stepped up

Alongside rising consumer demand, the risk of food safety violations also increases. Functional forces have therefore launched large-scale inspection campaigns. Director of the Department of Industry and Trade and Deputy Head of the city’s Steering Committee 389 Nguyen Hoang Long pointed out that the period leading up to Tet poses high risks of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods. To ensure strict control over goods during the Lunar New Year, market management forces, public security, border guards and the Coast Guard Region 1 have proactively monitored key areas, focusing inspections on major routes, warehouses, and food production and trading facilities in order to promptly prevent violations of the law.

To maintain market stability, ensure product quality and guarantee food safety, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade has intensified inspections and closely coordinated with relevant agencies to effectively crack down smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and products of unclear origin.
