Hai Phong city has paid close attention to investment in education, training, and sports, creating a favorable environment for every student and athlete to shine.

The Hai Phong People’s Committee held a ceremony on the evening of December 28 to honor 266 outstanding students in 2025 as well as athletes and coaches who achieved high results at the 33rd SEA Games.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed that education and sports are two key factors in shaping successful people: education nurtures intellect, while sports temper willpower and physical strength. When intellect and willpower go hand in hand, they form well-rounded individuals with knowledge, physical fitness, courage, discipline and aspirations to rise. This, Chau said, is the most valuable resource and the most important internal strength of Hai Phong in its development process.

With a deep awareness of this, throughout its leadership and development, Hai Phong has consistently upheld the viewpoint that people are at the center, both the goal and the driving force of rapid and sustainable development. The city has paid, is paying and will continue to pay close attention to investment in education, training, and sports, while creating favorable conditions for every student and athlete to study, train, contribute and shine.

This year, the city honored 225 outstanding students, including 152 pupils who won international and national prizes in academic subjects, science and technology, and the UPU International Letter Writing Competition; 28 pupils who achieved high scores in the 2025 senior high school graduation examination and were admitted to universities and academies at home and abroad; and 47 students who graduated as valedictorians with excellent or higher results at universities in the city as well as Hai Phong students who graduated as valedictorians with excellent or higher results at universities and academies nationwide.

In the 2024 – 2025 academic year, Hai Phong’s education and training sector continued to rank among the top nationwide, with 199 students winning national excellent student prizes, placing third in the country; four science and technology projects winning national prizes, including one selected for the international-level competition; and one pupil winning a silver medal at the International Biology Olympiad.

The quality of general education continued to improve, with the 2025 senior high school graduation examination ranking sixth nationwide in average scores and a graduation rate of 99.6%.

High-performance sports also recorded many notable results. The city organized and hosted 11 national tournaments and 1 international one. Hai Phong athletes won 24 medals at the 33rd SEA Games. The city’s high-performance athletes participated in 214 domestic and international tournaments, winning 1,492 medals of all kinds and breaking five national records, further affirming the position of Hai Phong sports.

At the ceremony, 25 athletes and 16 coaches from the city who achieved high results at the 33rd SEA Games were honored.
