As the year draws to a close, businesses in Hai Phong are stepping up production and recruitment, while trade unions are expanding their support to help workers feel secure and stay with their employers.

More job opportunities
According to the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, as of September 2026, industrial parks and economic zones in Hai Phong employed 363,605 Vietnamese workers and 11,742 foreign workers. Average monthly earnings stood at VND 12.69 million per person.
A survey by the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority found that businesses in the city’s industrial parks and economic zones planned to recruit more than 120,000 workers in 2026. Demand could reach around 400,000 workers over the 2026–2030 period, particularly in labor-intensive sectors such as electronics, mechanical engineering and manufacturing, supporting industries, textiles and garments, and footwear.
To attract and retain workers during the peak production period, many businesses are offering incentives, including skills-based bonuses of up to VND 3 million. Former employees who return to work can retain their previous service record and official salary.

For employers, recruitment is also challenging amid competition for workers. Jobseekers have more options, while expectations for skills, working conditions, pay and benefits continue to rise. As a result, many businesses are focusing not only on recruitment but also on providing stable working environments, supporting workers’ wellbeing and encouraging them to stay.
A stronger support network
By mid-September 2026, the Hai Phong City Federation of Labor oversaw 3,218 grassroots trade unions with around 652,000 members. Workers play an important role in the city’s socio-economic development, making the final months of the year a key period for stepped-up trade union support.
From July to September 2026, the ‘Trade Union Meal’ programme was held at 275 organizations, with 222,998 union members and workers taking part. The Hai Phong City Federation of Labor provided 55,539 kilograms of rice and 74,042 bottles of fish sauce to help participating organizations provide meals for workers.

In the first nine months of 2026, trade unions at all levels in the city provided more than VND 496 billion in support for union members and workers. Support activities are increasingly focused on health and quality of life. More than 3,000 union members and workers received free eye examinations, while 510 people received free cataract surgery, worth a total of VND 5.1 billion.
Around 160,000 people took part in running events and 60,000 union members participated in swimming activities, helping to promote regular exercise among workers and public-sector employees.
In the coming previous, the city’s Federation of Labor will continue to help grassroots trade unions modernize their work and standardize effective approaches. Priorities include tools for identifying workers’ needs, procedures for receiving and responding to feedback, and data to support dialogue and collective bargaining while expanding guidance materials and the use of technology.
Alongside ensuring wages and overtime arrangements, practical and timely support will help workers feel secure in their jobs and remain with their employers, contributing to fulfilling 2026 production and business targets.
