Hai Phong rowing boasts many experienced athletes with strong expertise. The city’s rowers are determined to compete for top results at SEA Games 33.

“Golden rain” for Hai Phong rowing
The 2025 National U19 and U23 Rowing Championships and the National Strong Teams Canoeing Cup, held from October 31 to November 6 at the Hai Phong Rowing Training Center, showcased the impressive form of Hai Phong athletes as they created a “golden rain.”
At the 2025 National U19 and U23 Rowing Championships, Hai Phong rowers performed strongly, earning eight golds, two silvers and one bronze, securing first place overall.
Building on that momentum, Hai Phong canoeists excelled with 12 gold medals after two days of competition (November 2 and 3) at the National Strong Teams Canoeing Cup.

With 20 gold medals so far (with more expected), Hai Phong rowing is increasingly affirming its strength in domestic competitions and setting its sights on the international arena.
Determination to continue success
With strong form and proven capability, Hai Phong rowers are enthusiastic and confident as they prepare for the major event ahead, SEA Games 33, to be held in December in Thailand.
According to coach Nguyen Thi Loan, head of the Hai Phong rowing division and coach of the Vietnam canoeing national team, Hai Phong rowing is expected to have four coaches and 17 athletes competing at SEA Games 33. To help these athletes conserve energy for the Games, they will participate in no more than three events at domestic tournaments. After that, the Vietnam rowing team will train at high intensity during a training camp in Thailand to familiarize themselves with the competition venue and equipment.

“The other countries are very strong, and we are determined to perform well and bring glory to Vietnamese sports and Hai Phong’s elite sports. The Hai Phong athletes are excited and highly motivated, and we aim to win two gold medals,” said coach Nguyen Thi Loan.
Hai Phong rowing features many experienced and skilled athletes, such as Nguyen Thi Huong, Do Thi Thanh Thao, Hoang Thi Huong, Hoang Thi Lam, Nguyen Van Ha, Pham Hong Quan, Chau Dai Duong, and Nguyen Thi Loi, who, with high spirits and strong results at the Asian Rowing Championships and domestic tournaments, are determined to compete for top achievements at SEA Games 33.
