Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and delegates offer incense in tribute to fallen heroes and leader Nguyen Duc Canh.

On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026), on the afternoon of April 28, Politburo member and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, together with a central delegation and leaders of the Hai Phong Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, offered flowers and incense in tribute to fallen heroes at the city’s Martyrs Memorial and at the statue of leader Nguyen Duc Canh at the Viet–Tiep Friendship Labour Cultural Palace.

Members of the delegation included Le Manh Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade; and Dang Xuan Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office.
City leaders participating in the delegation included Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation; Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee; Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Council; Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; along with members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, members of the City Party Committee, and representatives of various city departments and agencies.

In a solemn atmosphere, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the delegation laid wreaths, offered incense, and observed a moment of silence to express profound gratitude and remembrance for the great sacrifices of fallen heroes. They honored those who gave their lives, fighting bravely for national liberation, the building and protection of the Fatherland, and the happiness of the people—including tens of thousands of outstanding sons and daughters of Hai Phong.
Before the spirits of the fallen, the delegates pledged to follow in the footsteps of previous generations, striving to overcome all challenges and fulfill their political responsibilities, contributing to the continued development of Vietnam and Hai Phong into a stronger, more prosperous, happy, and civilized nation and city.

Following that, at the statue of leader Nguyen Duc Canh (located within the Viet–Tiep Friendship Labour Cultural Palace), Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the delegates offered incense to express their deep respect and gratitude for his great contributions. Nguyen Duc Canh was a co-founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Secretary of the Tonkin Regional Party Committee, former President of the Red General Confederation of Tonkin (the predecessor of today’s Vietnam General Confederation of Labour), and the first Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee.
Leader Nguyen Duc Canh was a steadfast revolutionary who devoted his entire youth to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the heroic port city.

In front of his spirit, the delegates expressed their deep respect and profound gratitude for his great contributions and sacrifices to the Party and the nation. They pledged to follow the example of previous generations, uphold the tradition of solidarity, strive to overcome all challenges, and promote a strong spirit of self-reliance and resilience, contributing to building Vietnam and Hai Phong into an increasingly prosperous and civilized nation and city.
