Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Tien Chau and the city delegation paid tribute to fallen heroes, expressing deep gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions.
On July 26, a delegation of the Hai Phong Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee, led by Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau, offered incense and flowers at several martyrs’ cemeteries in Quang Tri province to commemorate the 78th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – 2025).
The delegation offered incense and flowers in solemn remembrance of the fallen heroes at Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery, and Quang Tri Citadel. They expressed their profound gratitude for the brave soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives for the national liberation and reunification.
Acknowledging the immense sacrifices of the fallen heroes, the Party organization, authorities, and people of Hai Phong reaffirmed their commitment to unity and continued effort to make Hai Phong more and more modern and prosperous to lead the country’s path of industrialization and modernization.
Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery is the final resting place of over 10,200 martyrs, including 725 soldiers from Hai Phong who died bravely on the Ho Chi Minh Trail during the resistance war against the US aggressors.
Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery holds the remains of more than 10,800 martyrs, including 275 from Hai Phong. These heroes fought and served on the Road 9 battlefield and in Laos during the anti-US resistance war.
On this occasion, Hai Phong city donated 1 billion VND to Quang Tri province in support of local social welfare efforts. Secretary Le Tien Chau also presented gifts to the management boards of the martyrs’ cemeteries and Quang Tri Citadel relic site.
Quang Tri is the only locality in the country with two national martyrs’ cemeteries and 70 others for fallen soldiers scattered throughout the province.
