On the morning of June 2, health authorities throughout Hai Phong city launched the first round of the 2026 high-dose vitamin A supplementation campaign. All health facilities in the city’s 114 communes, wards and special administrative zones simultaneously provided vitamin A to eligible children.

The campaign’s peak period takes place on June 2–3, 2026. According to the plan, more than 125,000 children aged from 6 months to under 36 months will receive high-dose vitamin A to prevent micronutrient deficiencies and support child healthcare. Of these, 22,084 are aged 6 months to under 12 months, and 103,617 are aged 12 months to under 36 months.

The campaign aims to cover more than 99% of children aged 6 months to under 36 months, and to reach over 90% of children under five at risk of vitamin A deficiency both during and outside the campaign. The initiative also seeks to raise awareness among mothers, caregivers and communities about the importance of preventing micronutrient deficiencies. Simultaneously, it aims to improve nutritional status and vitamin A levels, reduce disease and mortality risk among young children, and maintain effective micronutrient supplementation for children alongside long-term measures set out in the National Nutrition Strategy.
