On the night of March 24 in Hai Phong, Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company, under the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC), successfully launched the offshore wind service vessel ST245 No.83 for ship owner REM Offshore.
The ST245 No.83 is a modern offshore energy service vessel designed to support offshore wind power projects and subsea technical operations. The ship measures over 107 meters in length, 23 meters in width, with a draft of 5.8 meters and a moulded depth of 9.5 meters. It is designed to accommodate 120 crew members, including 30 single cabins, 45 double cabins, and an onboard field hospital.
The vessel is equipped with a flexible propulsion system that uses a combination of diesel and methanol fuels, aligning with the trend toward emission reduction and sustainable development in the maritime and energy industries. This is not only a marine product but also a demonstration of future-oriented green technology solutions.
“The project was implemented under a simultaneous design-and-construction process with numerous high technical requirements and strict standards, posing significant challenges for all parties involved. However, thanks to the capability, experience and determination of the Song Cam team, along with close support from the ship owner, technical partners, classification societies and suppliers, we have successfully maintained the project’s schedule and quality,” said Mr. Hoang Van Tung, General Director of Song Cam Shipbuilding JSC.
The company also expressed confidence that once delivered and put into operation in 2027, the ST245 No.83 vessel will help enhance the operational capacity of the ship owner REM Offshore, while contributing positively to the sustainable development strategy of the offshore energy sector.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Dr. Pham Hoai Chung, Chairman of the Members’ Council of SBIC, emphasized that Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company had signed a contract with REM Offshore to build an offshore service vessel.
This is a modern vessel with complex technical features designed to support offshore construction projects. Notably, the ship is equipped with engines and storage tanks capable of using methanol fuel instead of conventional fuel oil, helping reduce environmental pollution during operation and contributing to environmental protection.
The event marks an important milestone in the construction and completion process of the vessel, reflecting the accumulated experience of engineers and workers, as well as the effective cooperation between the shipbuilder and the ship owner.
