The inauguration of the first international vessel marks an important step in deepening and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of China – Vietnam economic and trade cooperation.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong on November 25 welcomed a delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China at Cat Bi International Airport and attended the inauguration ceremony of the first vessel on the Gulf of Tonkin – Hai Phong port route at berths 3 and 4 of Lach Huyen port.
Attending the ceremony were Wei Tao, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region government, and Ou Guoquan, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that this event is significant not only for the maritime and logistics sectors of Hai Phong and Guangxi, but also represents progress in economic and trade cooperation between the two localities, contributing to new achievements in economic and trade ties between Vietnam and China.

Cuong also highly appreciated the support of the government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as well as the efforts and close cooperation of Vietnam Maritime Corporation, Hai Phong Port JSC., the Gulf of Tonkin Port Group and relevant units from both Vietnam and China during the discussions and coordination that led to the establishment of this new transport route between Hai Phong port and the Gulf of Tonkin.

This transshipment route will help enhance trade circulation, promote regional supply chains, reduce costs for businesses and establish a safe, efficient and sustainable maritime transport route between the two sides.
After the route is opened, based on the stable operation of the Southeast Asia branch route, Hai Phong port will leverage its transshipment advantages to gradually expand to long-distance regions such as the Americas and Europe. Depending on cargo demand on long-haul routes, suitable types of specialized vessels will be deployed.
