HTIT International Terminal welcomes first vessel from South America

The WAS3 service operated by COSCO SHIPPING Lines connects Hai Phong’s HTIT International Terminal with several ports in South America.

On the morning of October 26, TIL Hai Phong International Terminal Co., Ltd. (HTIT), a subsidiary of Hai Phong Port JSC., welcomed the vessel COSCO ASIA. This was the first ship of the WAS3 service operated by COSCO SHIPPING Lines, linking Hai Phong with several ports in South America.

The WAS3 service includes the ports of Hong Kong – Nansha – Xiamen – Qingdao – Ningbo – Shanghai – Manzanillo – Chancay – San Antonio – Hai Phong.

The service not only facilitates cargo transport from Hai Phong, Vietnam, to South American ports but also creates opportunities for investment and business cooperation. These new markets are expected to further enhance HTIT’s position on the global maritime map.

Under a comprehensive cooperation agreement among COSCO SHIPPING Lines, Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), and Hai Phong Port, COSCO SHIPPING Lines will operate its intra-Asia routes at Tan Vu Terminal and long-haul services at HTIT Terminal.

HTIT Terminal, which comprises berths No. 3 and No. 4 of Lach Huyen port, has a total wharf length of 750 m and a depth of 16 m, capable of accommodating vessels of up to 165,000 DWT (14,000 TEUs) and partially loaded vessels of up to 200,000 DWT. It also features a 250-m barge berth for ships of up to 3,000 DWT (160 TEUs) and is equipped with state-of-the-art handling systems, with a total investment of nearly 7 trillion VND.

The terminal operates under a green and smart port model, applying modern technology and automation.
