The 2026 Regional Logistics Forum, to be held in Hai Phong, aims to find solutions to bottlenecks directly affecting the movement of goods across the region.

The 7th Regional Logistics Forum is scheduled to take place in Hai Phong on the afternoon of September 21, attracting more than 600 delegates to discuss measures to improve connectivity, reduce costs and expand development space.
Seeking solutions to bottlenecks
Under the theme “Creating new development space for logistics in the Red River Delta,” the 7th Regional Logistics Forum is organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with the Hai Phong People’s Committee at the city Convention and Performance Center.
The event is expected to bring together leaders of ministries, sectors and localities, experts, associations, as well as domestic and international logistics, manufacturing, import and export groups and businesses.
The Red River Delta is home to many industrial parks, factories and major import and export activities of Vietnam. However, connections between production centers and seaports still rely heavily on road transport. Rail and inland waterway transport have yet to reach their full potential, while warehouse and logistics center systems and data sharing among units remain limited.
These bottlenecks need to be addressed more urgently as the region’s development space expands. Decision No. 612/QD-TTg dated April 4, 2026, on adjustments to the Red River Delta Regional Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, calls for synchronized infrastructure development and stronger intra-regional, inter-regional and international connectivity, in which economic corridors through Hai Phong are identified as important connectivity axes.
Against this backdrop, two discussion sessions, “Enabling institutions - Unlocking the flow” and “Attracting investment in Lach Huyen International Gateway Port - Expanding growth space,” will focus on improving mechanisms and policies; strengthening connections between seaports and industrial parks, warehouses and distribution centers; developing multimodal transport; and attracting investment in Lach Huyen.
Adding momentum to Hai Phong’s logistics development

For Hai Phong logistics businesses, the forum is eagerly anticipated because the issues to be discussed are closely linked to their daily operations. Doan Anh Tung, Deputy Director of KTH Logistics Trading and Services Co., Ltd., expects the forum to provide an opportunity for the city’s businesses to raise difficulties related to post-port infrastructure, transport organization and logistics costs and meet shipping lines, import-export enterprises, investors and partners in supply chains.
Along with advantages in location and infrastructure, demand for logistics services is rising in line with the scale of production and import and export activities. In the first eight months of 2026, cargo throughput at Hai Phong ports reached 134.34 million tons, up 11.74% year on year and exceeding the set scenario. Export turnover hit USD 42.2 billion, a rise of 14.6%, and revenue from import-export activities amounted to VND 65.023 trillion, an increase of 16.8%.
However, rapidly increasing cargo volumes are also putting additional pressure on post-port infrastructure. Connections from seaports to some industrial parks, warehouses and production centers remain inconvenient. Road transport still handles the bulk of cargo volumes.
These limitations show that increasing port capacity at Lach Huyen addresses only part of the requirements. For the area to fulfill its role as an international gateway port, transport connections need to be accelerated, rail and inland waterway freight transport developed, and warehouse and logistics center systems arranged to match the volume of cargo passing through the port.
At a working session with the city on March 16, 2026, Party General Secretary and President To Lam asked Hai Phong to position itself as a marine growth pole for the Red River Delta and the country, forming a development-driving triangle with Ha Noi and Quang Ninh; and to strive to become a modern industrial, international logistics and integrated marine economic center. Hai Phong must also position itself in relation to major port cities around the world in order to prepare long-term development space, strategic infrastructure and management capacity.
In this direction, the 7th Regional Logistics Forum provides an opportunity for Hai Phong to receive proposals from management agencies, experts, investors and the business community. The solutions and connections developed through the forum are expected to help enhance the city’s logistics capacity while strengthening links between Hai Phong’s seaports and production centers across the Red River Delta.
