Ninh Giang Inland Port to boost logistics development

Site clearance basically completed

The Ninh Giang Inland Port project is expected to support production, movement of goods, and attraction of investment to industrial parks and clusters in Khuc Thua Du Commune and surrounding areas.

To implement the project, site clearance was carried out in phases.

On May 30, 2025, the People's Committee of the former Ninh Giang District requested approval to change the land-use purpose and allocate land in the first phase to Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) to implement the project.

To date, Khuc Thua Du Commune has completed site clearance, compensation and support payments, and land recovery decisions for 178 households and individuals with agricultural land, covering a total area of 113,712 m2, with total compensation and support payments exceeding VND 65.33 billion. Compensation and support payments of more than VND 2.63 billion for one household subject to the recovery of 450 m2 of residential land was completed.

The remaining area of about 53,128 m2 is public land managed by the Commune People's Committee, including rice-growing land, transport land, irrigation land and land with specialized water surfaces.

Over 27-ha port planned

Alongside site clearance, the Khuc Thua Du Commune People's Committee has recently approved the project's detailed planning, covering a total area of more than 27 ha.

The project is planned to become a hub serving the import and export, storage, management and distribution of goods in the area, particularly industrial parks and clusters in Khuc Thua Du Commune and neighboring areas.

The port is planned to handle containers and other types of cargo for shipment and receipt, as well as loading and unloading, consolidation and deconsolidation of less-than-container-load cargo. The port area is also planned to serve the inspection of and customs procedures for imported and exported goods.

Under the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1829/QD-TTg dated October 31, 2021, approving the Inland Waterway Infrastructure Plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050, Ninh Giang Inland Port is planned to be capable of receiving vessels and barges of up to 2,000 tons by 2030.

The port is planned in a modern direction, comprising office and management buildings and a large-scale cargo handling system applying modern technology and a high level of automation.

Phase 1 will focus on constructing waterway infrastructure, an area outside the dike for logistics services, technical infrastructure and related facilities, with the goal of completing and putting the project's area outside the dike into operation in the 1st quarter of 2027.

Phase 2 will include warehouses and yards, office buildings, technical infrastructure and other facilities, with the goal of completing and putting the entire area inside the dike into operation in the 4th quarter of 2028.

Nguyen Tuan Hai, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that once fully developed, Ninh Giang Inland Port is expected to increase the capacity for transporting goods by waterway, helping shorten transport time, reduce logistics costs and improve business competitiveness.

The port will be an important link in the logistics system, connecting production with the movement of goods, supporting the development of industrial parks and clusters and opening up greater room for investment attraction in the coming years.
