Rescue vessel SAR 274 successfully brought an injured foreign passenger ashore and transferred him to Vinmec Đa Nang International Hospital for timely treatment following an emergency maritime rescue.

On February 14, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, in coordination with functional forces of Da Nang, rescued and safely transported an international passenger ashore.
Earlier at 12:04 a.m. the same day, the cruise ship MEIN SCHIFF 6 (flagged in Malta) was on the way from Quang Ninh to Singapore, approximately 215 nautical miles off Da Nang, when it sent out a distress call. Passenger Giovanni De Villa (65, Germany) had slipped and lost consciousness. As his condition was critical and beyond the ship’s onboard medical capacity, the captain urgently requested specialized medical assistance.
Upon receiving the call, the center immediately sent SAR 274 along with a specialized medical team from the Da Nang Emergency Medical Center. By 11:00 a.m., rescue forces reached the vessel and provided on-site emergency care. At 12:00 p.m., the patient was safely transported ashore and handed over to Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital for further treatment.
Leaders of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center also visited and offered support to the victim’s family, reaffirming the strong sense of responsibility of Vietnam’s maritime rescue forces.
