Once completed, Kenh Vang bridge will form a strategic transport link between Hai Phong city and Bac Ninh province, helping to promote trade across the Northern region.

Interregional connectivity
The working atmosphere at the construction site of the project to build Kenh Vang bridge and its approach roads connecting Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city is bustling. Hundreds of workers and dozens of machines have been mobilized and divided into six teams for simultaneous working.
Deputy construction team leader Pham Van Hiep said all six teams are working three shifts around the clock to take advantage of favorable weather. The contractor has deployed modern equipment such as crawler cranes, barges, bored pile drilling machines, and Super-T beam casting systems to ensure both progress and quality.

The Kenh Vang bridge and approach road construction project began in September 2024 and is scheduled for completion in 2027 under the management of the Bac Ninh Transport and Agriculture Project Management Board No. 2. The total route length is 13.396 km, with the main bridge spanning 743 m.
The route starts at km0, intersecting National Highway 17 in Nhan Thang commune of Bac Ninh province, and ends at km13+400, connecting with National Highway 37 in Tran Phu commune of Hai Phong city. The project covers about 45.66 ha of land, including 17.82 ha in Bac Ninh and 27.84 ha in Hai Phong, with a total approved investment of more than 2.182 trillion VND.
Strategic location
Kenh Vang bridge holds a strategic position along the corridor linking key National Highways 17 and 37, forming a complete traffic axis. Once in operation, the route will significantly reduce travel time between Bac Ninh and Hai Phong, ease congestion on existing national highways, and foster the growth of industrial parks and clusters along the corridor.

More than just connecting the two riverbanks, the Kenh Vang bridge and its approach roads will serve as a crucial link in the transport network of the Northern key economic region. Under Bac Ninh’s development strategy, the bridge is regarded as a “gateway for trade,” directly connecting to Gia Binh Airport, a level 4E airport project now under development.
According to Bac Ninh’s proposal, the route connecting Gia Binh Airport with Ha Noi and extending via Kenh Vang bridge to Hai Phong will span approximately 31.6 km through Bac Ninh province, with a planned road width of 120 m. Of this, the section from Gia Binh Airport to Ha Noi will be about 22.9 km long, while the section from the airport to Kenh Vang bridge and onward to Hai Phong will measure roughly 8.7 km.
When both the airport and the bridge become operational, the area will emerge as a major multimodal transport hub integrating road, air, and logistics infrastructure, serving as a strong driver for interregional economic development.
