May Chai Bridge and its approach roads help reduce travel time from Hai Phong’s inner city to Vu Yen island to just five minutes.
On the morning of August 19, Hai Phong city organized six online ceremony venues for the inauguration and groundbreaking of nine local projects as part of the nationwide inauguration and groundbreaking of 250 projects celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
In attendance at the central venue, the inauguration site of May Chai bridge and its approach roads, were Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the city Party Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau emphasized that the simultaneous inauguration and groundbreaking of nine projects in Hai Phong is a highly significant event, reflecting the city’s determination and strong aspiration to rise in a new stage of development.
The chairman affirmed that these projects will not only help complete infrastructure in transportation, aviation, healthcare, culture, and social welfare, but also create new momentum to boost growth, expand urban development space, and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The official acknowledged the efforts of investors, consultants, and contractors to accelerate progress and ensure construction quality. He also commended departments, agencies, and localities for their close coordination, enabling the projects to be inaugurated and commenced on schedule.
The chairman expressed confidence that the projects inaugurated and launched on this occasion serve as vivid proof of the city’s aspirations, laying a solid foundation for building Hai Phong into a modern, green, smart, and sustainable port city, contributing meaningfully to the nation’s overall development.
The construction of May Chai bridge (also known as Hoang Gia bridge) and its approach roads is part of the Vu Yen island entertainment, housing, and ecological park project (Vinhomes Royal Island) developed by Vingroup.
The bridge, nearly 2.2 km long and 21 m wide with four lanes, starts from Vu Yen island and ends at the intersection with Le Thanh Tong street, reducing travel time from the island to the city center from 50 minutes to just 5 minutes.
