Hai Phong and Japan’s Ehime prefecture share many similarities, particularly as port urban areas where manufacturing plays a leading role in the economy.
Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong on November 28 received and worked with a delegation from Japan’s Ehime prefecture, led by Nakano Taisei, Member of the Ehime Prefectural Assembly, who visited to explore and discuss cooperation opportunities between the two sides.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong expressed confidence that, in the context of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan developing in an extremely positive manner, this visit to Hai Phong would lay an important foundation for the two localities to pursue more practical and effective cooperation in the time ahead.
Cuong noted that Ehime and Hai Phong share many similarities in economic development orientation and models, particularly as port urban areas where manufacturing is the main pillar and centers for maritime transport and shipbuilding. He believed the two localities still have significant potential for expanding cooperation in their areas of strength in a practical, effective and mutually beneficial manner.
The Vice Chairman proposed that Nakano Taisei convey Hai Phong’s invitation to the leadership of Ehime and major enterprises in the prefecture to arrange an early visit to Hai Phong to strengthen mutual understanding, friendly exchanges and cooperation in industrial production, maritime transport and shipbuilding; and attract Japanese investment to Hai Phong’s economic and free trade zones.
Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that Hai Phong is always ready to facilitate Japanese enterprises and organizations seeking to study the investment environment and implement practical, effective cooperation programs.
On behalf of the delegation, Nakano Taisei said Ehime prefecture places particular importance on strengthening connections with localities in Vietnam, including Hai Phong.
Nakano Taisei said Ehime is exploring cooperation opportunities in shipbuilding, environmental protection, human resources development, high-tech agriculture and educational and cultural exchanges. He believed this working trip would help create new progress in cooperation between Ehime prefecture and Hai Phong in the coming period.
