As Red Flamboyant Festival approaches, Bac Song Cam Urban Area, a new symbol of the northern port city’s modernization drive, has become increasingly vibrant with colorful decorations and festive preparations.
From the atmosphere surrounding the city’s Political-Administrative Center to the rapid development of major projects and infrastructure, the area is steadily emerging as a new national urban center.
Residents and visitors traveling along Do Muoi Road have seen the Bac Song Cam Urban Area become increasingly modern and well-planned.
At the city’s Political-Administrative Center square, preparations for the Red Flamboyant Festival are underway, with stage installations being completed ahead of the annual event.
The festive atmosphere reflects not only the city’s preparations for the celebration but also the dynamic growth of the new urban center.
Nguyen Van Hung, a resident of Tan Duong 2 residential quarter in Thuy Nguyen ward, said the entire Bac Song Cam Urban Area had taken on a vibrant new look as Hai Phong accelerated preparations for the 2026 Red Flamboyant Festival.
Having lived in the area for many years, Hung said he was moved by the transformation of what was once a low-lying rural area into a large urban center.
Located along the Cam River and only minutes from dothe city center, the Bac Song Cam Urban Area features modern buildings, public squares, administrative and political centers, commercial and residential zones, as well as parks and green spaces.
Architect Vo Quoc Thai, former vice chairman of the former Hai Phong Union of Literature and Arts Associations, described Bac Song Cam as the new “heart” of the port city.
He said the Political-Administrative Center building resembles a ship heading toward the open sea, symbolizing Hai Phong’s aspirations for integration and development.
The area’s synchronized infrastructure system, including transport, water supply and drainage, lighting and telecommunications, has also helped ease pressure on the old inner city while creating new development space.
Bac Song Cam is therefore not only a new urban area but also a symbol of Hai Phong’s ambition to become a modern and sustainable national urban center.
About a year ago, during the inauguration ceremony for the city’s Political-Administrative Center and Conference-Performance Center in the Bac Song Cam Urban Area, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Anh Quan said the projects were contributing to the development of a streamlined and efficient urban government.
He said the projects supported Hai Phong’s goal of becoming a highly developed city among Asia’s leading cities by 2045 under Politburo Resolution No. 45 on Hai Phong’s development vision to 2030 and 2045.
After one year of operation, the strengths of the Bac Song Cam Urban Area have become increasingly evident.
The transport system has been synchronized and connected with key routes, including Hoang Van Thu Bridge, Road 359 and Mang Nuoc Road, alongside an internal road network stretching dozens of kilometers.
Modern bus services and transport infrastructure have also helped improve living standards and regional connectivity.
At the same time, entertainment complexes, commercial centers, ecological parks and the Vu Yen island urban area surrounding Bac Song Cam are gradually being completed and put into operation, creating a modern and livable urban environment.
The area’s growing appeal has attracted a rising number of domestic and foreign investors to Bac Song Cam and Hai Phong, helping shape a more comprehensive urban ecosystem.
