From An Duong, An Hai to Thach Khoi, Nam Sach, the atmosphere of tending peach blossom gardens for the Tet market is entering its busiest time of the year.

The 2026 Lunar New Year is approaching. This year, favorable weather conditions have helped peach trees grow well, with evenly formed buds and attractive shapes. From An Duong, An Hai to Thach Khoi, Nam Sach, the atmosphere of caring for peach blossom gardens serving the Tet market is entering the busiest time of the year.
In key peach-growing areas of Hai Phong, such as An Duong and An Hai wards, the early days of the twelfth lunar month are already bustling with activity. Across peach orchards, growers are busy checking buds, shaping branches, removing leaves, fertilizing, and regulating water. Although Tet comes later this year, the weather is considered quite favorable for peach trees, allowing growers to be more proactive in adjusting cultivation techniques.
An Duong Ward has more than 200 hectares of peach, kumquat, and ornamental flower cultivation, of which over 100 hectares are peach trees. According to local households, thanks to favorable weather conditions, the supply of peach and kumquat trees for the 2026 Tet market is abundant, with noticeably improved quality.
At Dong Du Peach Garden (An Duong Ward), Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, who has nearly 50 years of experience in peach cultivation, said:
“Last year, unfavorable weather greatly affected the trees. This year, the trees are growing well and the buds are even. My family grows about 100 trees, and nearly 50% have already been ordered, with prices ranging from several million to tens of millions of VND per tree.”
In Tri Yeu residential quarter (An Duong Ward), Mr. Nguyen Van Son is busy inspecting nearly 300 peach trees after leaf stripping. He shared that after last year’s major floods and storms, his family had to replant nearly half of the orchard. “This year, the weather has been favorable, and the peach trees look beautiful with even buds. Although it’s not yet peak season, about 20% of the trees have already been pre-ordered,” Mr. Son said enthusiastically.
Mr. Bui Viet Dan (Tu Lap residential quarter, An Duong Ward) said his family owns more than 200 ornamental peach trees, offering various types for both purchase and rental. “This year, favorable weather and proper care have resulted in healthier trees, larger buds, and more attractive shapes than previous years. Since early January, many customers have come to place orders or rent trees, and some shipments have even been transported to central provinces,” Mr. Dan shared.
Peach gardens in Thach Khoi and Tan Hung wards and Nam Sach Commune have also begun welcoming a steady flow of visitors coming to admire and place orders.
Currently, Phu Lien Village (Nam Sach Commune) has nearly 400 households engaged in flower and ornamental plant cultivation, covering an area of about 22 hectares, with 70% devoted to peach trees. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thong’s household allocates most of its land to ornamental peaches of various types. At this time, some trees have already begun blooming, requiring growers to carefully stimulate or slow growth depending on each tree to ensure lasting buds. "This year’s favorable weather has allowed us to manage schedules proactively, and the peach trees are expected to be more beautiful than last year,” Mr. Thong said.
Buyers are not only local residents but also come from Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, and other localities.
According to local authorities, experience in closely monitoring weather conditions, proactively stripping leaves, stimulating or restraining growth, along with techniques such as root ball turning, has helped ensure uniform quality, attractive shapes, and long-lasting blooms for this year’s peach trees. A late Tet is no longer seen as pressure, but rather an advantage that allows growers to better care for the peaches.

Alongside garden care, the 2026 Tet peach market has begun to heat up. In An Duong and An Hai wards, many garden owners report that 50–80% of their peach trees have already been sold or rented as early as January 2026. Trucks transporting peach trees to Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and other provinces have started rolling out.
Mr. Do Van Chinh (Dong Du peach craft village, An Duong Ward) shared: “After losing 70% of my trees last season, I had to travel to mountainous areas to purchase wild peach rootstocks for grafting. This year, I adjusted the leaf-stripping schedule to be 10 days later to ensure the trees bloom right on Tet. The most beautiful tree in my garden has already been rented for 22 million VND.”
In Phu Lien Village (Nam Sach Commune), grafted peaches on wild peach rootstocks are becoming increasingly popular. Mr. Nguyen Hong Chien, who has more than 30 years of experience in peach cultivation, said his family has over 500 grafted peach trees, of which around 80% have already been sold. “Grafted peaches have old root bases, attractive shapes, and abundant blossoms, so they are easy to sell. Although prices this year are about 30% lower than last year, our family still expects revenue of around 400 million VND,” Mr. Chien said.
Overall assessments from local authorities indicate that this year’s Tet peach market is stable, with abundant supply and improved quality. Ward and commune authorities have proactively coordinated support for transportation, ensured security and traffic safety in peach-growing areas, and strengthened promotion efforts, including organizing spring flower fairs and facilitating access to capital and technical guidance for growers.
Notably, after severe losses caused by storms, floods, and extreme weather in previous years, the 2026 Tet peach season is regarded as a “recovery season.” Beyond economic value, it represents a reaffirmation of the resilience of the peach-growing craft. From the fields of An Duong, An Hai to Thach Khoi, Tan Hung, and Nam Sach, peach growers are placing great hopes on a spring of abundance and prosperity.
