Implementing the "Compassionate Tet" movement - Spring 2026, Hai Phong Red Cross has delivered VND 33.9 billion in Tet gifts to over 56,000 people in difficult circumstances.
As a result, during the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Red Cross at all levels across the city mobilized and distributed 56,500 gift packages worth VND 33.9 billion, averaging VND 600,000 each. This marks a 12% increase in packages and 35.6% rise in value compared to targets set by the Red Cross Central Committee.
In which, the city Red Cross directly mobilized 7,129 packages worth VND 6.3 billion; grassroots chapters mobilized and distributed 49,371 packages worth VND 27.6 billion.
Besides, the city Red Cross also mobilized the participation and support from departments, mass organizations, businesses, schools, and kind-hearted people inside and outside the city to join hands to help vulnerable groups during Tet.
Along with organizing two "Compassionate Tet Markets" in Truong Tan, Tan Ky, and Vinh Hoa Communes, the city Red Cross coordinated with localities and units to hold 30 gift distribution programme, while allocating 1,700 Tet packages to grassroots levels for timely aid to those in need.
Hai Phong Red Cross also allocated 1,115 gift packages at VND 1 million each to people in provinces hardest hit by 2025 disasters and floods, via local Red Cross networks.
At grassroots levels, the movement spread widely with 58 "Compassion Weeks" and over 200 Tet gift events, benefiting over 56,000 residents through practical support forms.
