The Hai Phong Party Committee has approved the adjustment of investment policies for three healthcare projects in the western part of the city and required assurance of quality and meeting of the people’s healthcare needs.
Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Tien Chau presided over a meeting of the committee’s Standing Board on September 30 to review adjustments to investment policies for three healthcare projects in the western part of the city.
At the meeting, relevant units reported on adjustments to the construction of new blocks for emergency, technical, and paraclinical services, technical, paraclinical, and inpatient services, and clinical, administrative, technical, and inpatient services at Hai Duong General Hospital; the construction of pediatrics, surgery, reproductive health and obstetrics, internal medicine departments, along with technical and auxiliary infrastructure at Binh Giang Medical Center; and the construction, renovation, and upgrading of three provincial-level hospitals (the Pulmonary Hospital, Chi Linh Leprosy Hospital, and the Tropical Diseases Hospital).
Accordingly, the additional investment in new blocks at Hai Duong General Hospital aims to ensure adequate facilities to serve examination and treatment for the people, with a scale of 1,000 patient beds. This will contribute to improving the hospital’s performance, reducing the rate of referrals to higher-level hospitals, and thereby easing the burden on local residents.
The investment scale includes three new buildings: a clinical, administrative, technical, and inpatient block with 8 floors and a total floor area of about 17,636 m²; a technical, paraclinical, and inpatient block with 7 floors and a total floor area of about 10,023 m²; and an emergency, technical, and paraclinical block with 7 floors and a total floor area of about 12,808 m².
The project to build new pediatrics, surgery, reproductive health and obstetrics, and internal medicine departments, along with technical and auxiliary infrastructure at Binh Giang Medical Center includes a new 5-story building with a total floor area of about 5,250 m². In addition, existing facilities such as the reproductive health department, auditorium, operating rooms, planning and records offices will be renovated.
The project to construct, renovate, and upgrade the Pulmonary Hospital, Chi Linh Leprosy Hospital, and the Tropical Diseases Hospital will help improve medical capacity, meeting the requirements of enhancing healthcare in the new context.
After listening to the opinions of standing members of the city Party Committee and leaders of relevant sectors and units, Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed that investment in education, healthcare, and culture is a major policy of Hai Phong city.
Currently, Hai Phong has the third-largest economy in the country, with increasingly strong economic potential, and its citizens must enjoy the benefits of economic development.
The Secretary emphasized that adjusting these projects is necessary in the current situation. However, it is essential to clearly identify both objective and subjective reasons for the adjustments. At the same time, focus must be placed on selecting competent design consultants and construction contractors who can meet the requirements, minimizing the need for further adjustments.
In line with current regulations, the Secretary concluded that the adjustment of investment policies for these projects is appropriate. The city Party Committee approved the proposal and required that implementation ensure transparency, quality, and the best possible healthcare for the people.
