Hai Phong continues to make its mark on the global maritime map as the city has been named among the Top 20 ports with highest performance index in the world.

The World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence have released the 2025 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), in which Hai Phong Port continued to make a strong mark by ranking 13th globally.
The CPPI 2025 evaluates the performance of 400 container ports worldwide based on cargo handling time and vessel turnaround time.
According to the 2025 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), jointly published by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, Cai Mep and Hai Phong both scored 122 points, ranking 11th and 13th globally, respectively.
The ranking places Hai Phong Port and Cai Mep Port just behind leading global hubs such as Fuzhou, Dalian, Ningbo, Hong Kong (China), Salalah (Oman) and Kobe (Japan).
The rise to 13th place globally marks a significant improvement in the operational efficiency of Hai Phong Port.
Unlike rankings based primarily on cargo throughput or port size, the CPPI measures operational efficiency. The index evaluates factors such as vessel turnaround time, cargo handling speed, terminal productivity and overall port performance – the criteria that have become increasingly important for global shipping lines and logistics operators.
