Hai Phong Party Chief pays tribute to fallen heroes

Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, and head of the Hai Phong Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, offered flowers and incense in tribute to fallen heroes at Minh Tan Martyrs' Cemetery in Nhi Chieu Ward on the afternoon of July 31. He also inspected and encouraged personnel carrying out the 500-day campaign to search for and recover the remains of fallen soldiers.

In a solemn atmosphere, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Ngoc Chau and the delegates respectfully laid flowers and incense, observed a moment of silence, and expressed deep gratitude to the fallen heroes who fought and sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence and freedom and for the people's well-being.

According to a report presented during the inspection, the city Steering Committee 515 said Hai Phong has 230 martyrs' cemeteries across 94 communes and wards, with 2,606 sets of remains requiring DNA sampling. To date, authorities have collected 1,461 DNA samples from 146 cemeteries in 64 communes and wards, following proper procedures to support the identification of unidentified remains.

Nhi Chieu Ward, which has the largest number of samples to be collected in the city, requires 133 samples from three cemeteries. After three days of work, 46 samples have been collected, meeting quality, safety, and technical standards.

After hearing the progress report, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Ngoc Chau directly inspected the DNA sampling site at Minh Tan Martyrs' Cemetery and encouraged officers, soldiers, and personnel carrying out the mission.

Chau urged all participating forces to continue demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility, closely coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and local authorities, and accelerate progress while ensuring the DNA sampling process remains scientific, accurate, and safe.

He also called for better care of the living and working conditions of personnel involved in the mission, striving to complete the objectives of the 500-day campaign and fulfill the hopes of martyrs' families and the public.
