Hai Phong education to stay one step ahead in manpower preparation

The Hai Phong Department of Education and Training held a conference on August 12 to review the 2025-2026 academic year, launch tasks for the 2026-2027 academic year, and review one year of implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.

Addressing the conference, Chairman of the City People’s Committee Do Thanh Trung praised the education sector for its achievements during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Notable results included an average score of 6.171 in the 2026 National High School Graduation Examination, ranking third nationwide; Hai Phong students winning 208 national excellent student prizes, placing the city among the four localities with the highest number of prizes nationwide; five national-level science and engineering awards; and 82 national school sports medals.

Agreeing with the theme of the 2026-2027 academic year, “Innovative thinking - Strong transformation - Substantive results,” Chairman of the City People’s Committee Do Thanh Trung required the education sector to focus on renewing governance, improving implementation capacity, strengthening education management at the commune level, and accelerating digital transformation.

Trung also called for substantive improvements in education quality, maintaining discipline and fairness, improving the quality of mass and gifted education, and narrowing disparities among localities.

The chairman asked the sector to ensure adequate classrooms, equipment and digital infrastructure, giving priority to areas with high demand and ensuring that all students have access to school. Learners should be placed at the center, with greater attention paid to their comprehensive development, safety and well-being.

At the same time, vocational and higher education as well as scientific research should be aligned with the city’s development needs, particularly in high technology, logistics, the marine economy, green manufacturing, semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Links among the government, schools and businesses should be strengthened.

The education sector should also proactively prepare the necessary conditions for Hai Phong to join UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities in 2027 in a substantive and sustainable manner, promoting lifelong learning.

On this occasion, three individuals received Third-class Labor Orders from the State President; two collectives received Emulation Flags from the Government, and 20 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. Eight collectives received Emulation Flags and 21 collectives were recognized as “Excellent Labor Collectives” by the Hai Phong People’s Committee. Eight collectives and 66 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee.
