Their annual output reaches 3.8 – 3.9 billion juveniles, including 3.2 billion freshwater species, with the remainder comprising marine and brackish-water ones.
According to assessments by specialized agencies, the current production capacity of these facilities generally meets local demand, including some key species such as monosex tilapia, common carp, black tiger shrimp, and mud crabs. Aquatic breeding facilities in Hai Phong have also adopted various technologies to rear high-value fish species, including groupers, golden pompano and flathead grey mullet.
Hai Phong aims to maintain 24,000 hectares of aquaculture for the 2026-2030 period, with an average annual growth rate of 5.42%. To ensure an adequate supply of quality juveniles, the city provides support covering 30% of eligible costs, capped at VND 300 million, for facilities producing and rearing aquatic juveniles to renovate and upgrade their operations and apply science and technology to production.
