Along with the launch of modern shopping centers and the promotion of trade, e-commerce, and digital consumption, Hai Phong is creating strong momentum for year-end trade and service growth.

Growth drivers
On October 25, the Vincom Mega Mall Royal Island (Vu Yen) officially opened, marking a new development milestone for Hai Phong’s trade and service sector. The mall offers a comprehensive shopping experience with over 100 brands spanning supermarkets, furniture, utilities, dining, and entertainment. Several brands are making their debut in Hai Phong, such as the high-end supermarket model Co.opmart Pro, the convenience retail chain Mr.DIY, and Danish furniture brand JYSK, meeting the growing demand of local consumers.
The opening of Vincom Mega Mall Vu Yen is seen as a major boost to domestic consumption, creating a connection between tourism, services, and modern commerce while enhancing the competitiveness of Hai Phong’s retail market in a new phase.
Alongside retail infrastructure, the city has been promoting trade, product marketing, and market connectivity. At the end of September, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy under the Department of Industry and Trade inaugurated an exhibition center featuring OCOP, VietGAP, and GlobalGAP products, as well as distinctive specialties from across Vietnam, offering consumers high-quality, reasonably priced products while reducing the risk of counterfeit goods.
In the coming period, the center will continue partnering with local enterprises and producers of regional specialties, OCOP, VietGAP, and GlobalGAP-certified products from various provinces and cities to introduce and supply them to consumers. The venue is expected to become an ideal destination for customers seeking high-quality, certified Vietnamese goods.
Boosting e-commerce
Alongside traditional trade, e-commerce is becoming a key growth driver for Hai Phong. According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Vu Thi Kim Phuong, e-commerce revenue in Hai Phong accounts for 16 – 18% of total retail and consumer service sales, higher than the national average, with an annual growth rate of 23 – 25%. The city’s 2025 e-commerce index reached 14.5 points, surpassing the national average of 9.3, ranking fifth nationwide.
In practice, many businesses, cooperatives, and producers in the city have opened online stores on major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop, while adopting a hybrid “online–offline” sales model that leverages the appeal of malls and supermarkets for both physical and digital transactions. At present, over 85% of nearly 30,000 private enterprises and around 205,000 economic establishments in Hai Phong are engaged in online business activities.
Deputy Director Vu Thi Kim Phuong said the city will continue to support enterprises in digital transformation and digital export through training, consulting, and connections with major e-commerce platforms, while promoting technical and financial assistance policies suited to small- and medium-sized businesses. These efforts aim to help Hai Phong’s key products, from supporting industries, mechanics, and electronics to handicrafts and processed agricultural goods, expand their global market reach.
To boost trade activities in the final months of the year, the Department of Industry and Trade, in line with the whole country, will launch the event “National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day – Online Friday 2025” from November 13 to 17.
In addition, the industry and trade sector is actively preparing for the “Red River Delta Industry and Trade Fair – Hai Phong 2025,” scheduled for November 5 to 9, at the Square of the Xu Dong Cultural Center. The fair will feature more than 210 standard booths, bringing together enterprises and production facilities from provinces and cities across the Red River Delta and other localities nationwide.
The event will provide an opportunity for businesses, cooperatives, and producers in the region to strengthen trade connections, exchange experiences, expand markets, and seek investment and technology transfer partnerships.
With proactive businesses and strong government support, Hai Phong is heading toward a vibrant and productive year-end shopping season. These efforts will not only boost corporate revenue but also make an important contribution to fulfilling the city’s 2025 socio-economic development targets.
