Transport Management Software (TMS), Warehouse Management System (WMS), Global Positioning System (GPS), electronic invoices, digital signatures... have become regular operational tools.

Developing green, smart port models

In Hai Phong's economic development picture, logistics has long been a pillar, serving as the ‘lifeblood’ connecting production, trade, and import-export activities across northern Vietnam. The city boasts the largest seaport system in the North, including the deep-water Lach Huyen port cluster, terminals at Dinh Vu, Chua Ve, Tan Vu..., capable of handling large-capacity vessels and directly linking to international shipping routes. The rapid growth of industrial zones, Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone, along with continuously rising FDI, has driven increasingly high, diverse, and complex logistics demands.

At many local logistics firms, transport management software (TMS), warehouse management system (WMS), Global Positioning System (GPS), electronic invoices, digital signatures... are now standard tools. Some companies have begun applying big data analytics to forecast cargo volumes, optimize transport routes, save fuel, and reduce manpower.

A standout is the SmartPort application, enabling businesses to handle online procedures for receiving/delivery, loading/unloading, container handling, payments, and multi-port data queries. Processing time for a set of instructions has dropped from 3-4 hours to about 30 minutes, with real-time data updates ensuring accurate transactions, cost savings, reduced staffing, and lower emissions.

Smartgate, an AI-powered smart port gate, automatically recognizes containers, vehicle license plates, trailers, seals, documents, and verifies via QR codes. The system cross-checks data and automatically opens/closes barriers in 5-7 seconds (compared to 5-7 minutes previously), achieving 95-97% recognition accuracy. Smartgate also supports vehicle imaging, container condition checks, and alerts for IMO hazards and overloads.
