Hai Phong City is strengthening connections between educational institutions and businesses to train a workforce that meets practical market demands.

Students learn about recruitment demands from 100 businesses at the Human Resources Attraction and Business-Education Connection Day held in the city at the end of April 2026.

Expanding employment opportunities

Recently, at the “Human Resources Attraction and Business Connection Day for Industrial Parks, Economic Zones, and Educational Institutions in Hai Phong,” jointly organized by the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority and the city’s Department of Education and Training in late April 2026, the cooperation between training institutions and employers showed many positive signs.

At the event, thousands of students gained access to recruitment information, explored labor demands, and received career orientation from 100 businesses operating in sectors such as electronics, garment technology, mechanical engineering, and logistics.

On this occasion, educational institutions and enterprises in Hai Phong’s industrial parks and economic zones also coordinated the handover and reception of 300 interns, strengthening connections in workforce training.

Vietnam Maritime University student Vu Duc Dung said that, as a logistics major, he is highly interested in recruitment needs within the logistics sector.

Through the event, he learned about many businesses currently seeking workers whose qualifications match his field of study. This has helped him define clearer goals in striving to secure employment immediately after graduation.

According to the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, the city’s system of industrial parks and economic zones continues to expand in both scale and quality. Hai Phong currently has three economic zones, one free trade zone, and 45 industrial parks, attracting nearly 1,400 enterprises and employing more than 360,000 workers.

These industrial parks and economic zones have attracted 1,044 FDI projects with a total investment of over USD 44.3 billion, along with 383 domestic projects worth approximately USD 24.85 billion.

Under the city’s development plan through 2030, Hai Phong will have 83 industrial parks focusing on high technology, green industry, and clean energy, leading to significant demand for skilled technical workers and high-quality human resources.

A survey conducted in April 2026 showed that recruitment demand in industrial parks and economic zones exceeded 35,000 workers, mainly in electronics, mechanical engineering, supporting industries, textiles and garments, footwear, and logistics. This confirms Hai Phong’s growing role as a major industrial, logistics, and high-tech hub in Northern Vietnam and nationwide.

According to Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority Pham Van Thep, in response to new development requirements, the city identifies human resource development as one of its strategic breakthroughs, playing a decisive role in competitiveness and sustainable growth. In particular, strengthening cooperation among the “government – schools – businesses” partnership is considered a key solution.

Strengthening connections for practical-oriented training

With a recruitment demand of 35,000 workers in industrial parks and economic zones, students in Hai Phong have many employment opportunities right in their hometown.

According to the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, the city currently has eight universities and 49 vocational education institutions. Each year, around 12,500 students graduate. The employment rate after graduation exceeds 80% for technical and maritime majors, and around 70% for economics and social sciences. Vocational education is becoming increasingly closely linked with businesses, with many fields achieving a 100% employment rate for students after graduation.

Despite these positive results, the Department of Education and Training noted that the training of high-quality human resources at vocational and higher education institutions in the city still has not fully met the recruitment demands of industrial parks and economic zones.

Promoting the “classroom in the workshop” and “workshop in the school” models to help students develop skills aligned with real production practices from an early stage.

At the business and education connection event, Mr.Bruno Jaspaert, Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam and CEO of the DEEP C Industrial Zones complex, stated that Hai Phong has maintained double-digit GRDP growth for many consecutive years thanks to its synchronized transport infrastructure and strong connectivity.

However, he emphasized that the city must continue building an “educational bridge” to connect with the future. Hai Phong needs breakthrough strategies for developing high-quality education to meet workforce demands in industrial parks.

Students should be better equipped with foreign language proficiency, vocational skills, technical expertise, and adaptability to modern working environments in order to meet the requirements of international businesses.

According to Director of the Department of Education and Training Luong Van Viet, the city identifies high-quality human resources as a key factor in attracting investment, with a major focus on strengthening connections between educational institutions and businesses.

The city will continue improving cooperation mechanisms between schools and enterprises, promote market-oriented training programs, and prioritize technical and high-tech human resources. At the same time, Hai Phong aims to attract experts and highly skilled workers to participate in teaching activities while encouraging businesses to engage directly in vocational training.

Schools are also promoting models such as “classrooms in workshops” and “workshops in schools” to help students develop skills that match real production environments at an early stage.

Through stronger connections between educational institutions and businesses, the city not only expands employment opportunities for students but also helps ensure a high-quality workforce to support Hai Phong’s long-term development goals.
