Employment at industrial enterprises in Haiphong increased by 3.02%

According to the Haiphong Statistics Office, in March 2026, the number of employees working in industrial enterprises across the city increased by 0.9% compared to February and 3.02% year-on-year compared to the same period in 2025.

By type of ownership, employment in state-owned enterprises decreased by 1.76%, while the workforce in non-state enterprises dropped by 29.16%. In contrast, employment in foreign-invested enterprises rose by 10.82% compared to the same period in 2025.

By economic sector, employment in mining increased by 0.73%; manufacturing and processing industries rose by 3.12%; electricity production and distribution grew by 0.33%; while employment in water supply and waste and wastewater treatment decreased by 0.43% compared to the same period last year.

Several industries recorded notable changes in their labor utilization index compared to the same period last year, including electrical equipment manufacturing, up 47.58%; other transport equipment manufacturing, up 11.67%; electronics, computer and optical product manufacturing, up 11.57%; metal production, up 9.28%; furniture manufacturing, up 7.88%; and chemical and chemical product manufacturing, up 5.62%.

Meanwhile, some industries recorded declines in employment, such as food processing, down 7.64%, and tobacco product manufacturing, down 4.35%.

In practice, traditional industries tend to see a decline in labor, while manufacturing and high-tech sectors continue to expand their workforce.
