City leaders offer incense at historical sites

Haiphong leaders organized incense offering-ceremonies at numerous historical and cultural sites throughout the city.

On the traditional Lunar New Year 2026, on the morning of February 9, a delegation from the Hai Phong City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, led by Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation, organized an incense-offering ceremony to commemorate national leaders, heroic martyrs, and former leaders at a number of historical and cultural relics across the city.

The delegation offered incense at Nghe Temple in Le Chan Ward and the Monument of General Le Chan in the city center; the special national historical site of Tu Luong Xam in Dong Hai Ward; the Bach Dang Giang Historical Site in Bach Dang Ward; the memorial house of leader Nguyen Duc Canh in An Hai Ward; the memorial monument of leader Luong Khanh Thien in An Lao Commune; the memorial house of Vice President Nguyen Luong Bang in Nguyen Luong Bang Commune; the memorial house of former Vice Chairman of the State Council Le Thanh Nghi in Gia Loc Commune; and the Kiep Bac World Cultural Heritage Site, part of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac complex. Kiep Bac was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site on July 12, 2025.

At each location, the city leaders expressed deep gratitude for great contributions of the predecessors, heroic martyrs, and former leaders in the cause of national liberation, construction, and defense of the Fatherland. The city delegation pledged to remain united and determined to build Hai Phong into a rapidly and sustainably developing city, striving to become an industrial, smart, and modern city.

The incense-offering ceremony is a meaningful activity during the Lunar New Year, reflecting the beauty of Vietnamese culture and upholding the nation’s tradition of “when drinking water, remember its source.”
