The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has issued an urgent directive to relevant units to implement safety measures during the rainy season.

The CAAV has asked Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), Van Don International Airport and Phu Quoc International Airport to carry out comprehensive inspections of airside infrastructure, aviation facilities and operational support structures. Inspections should focus on vulnerable areas at risk from heavy rain, flooding, landslides, thunderstorms and other severe weather, with prompt repairs to ensure safe operations.
Airport operators must closely monitor weather developments, proactively adjust operational plans to match real conditions, and ensure sufficient personnel, supplies, vehicles and equipment are ready to respond to incidents.
The CAAV also instructed Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to step up weather monitoring and work closely with airports and relevant units to provide timely information supporting safe flight operations.
In addition, airport service authorities are required to increase inspections and supervision to ensure compliance with the directive at airports under their jurisdiction, promptly identify and handle any hazards that could affect aviation safety during the rainy season.
Those authorities must coordinate closely with local governments, airport operators and relevant agencies on disaster response and recovery, and report promptly to the CAAV any events that affect aviation operations.
