Innovating experiences

Digital transformation is becoming increasingly visible across the trade and service sector. Many businesses and commercial establishments in Hai Phong have proactively invested in technology and adopted new business methods to meet consumers’ growing demands.

Co.opmart Pro Vu Yen supermarket at Vincom Mega Mall Vu Yen in Thuy Nguyen Ward is a typical modern retail model, with an investment of about VND 50 billion covering more than 3,200 m2. In addition to offering over 30,000 products, ranging from food and consumer goods to imported products, the supermarket has integrated various technological solutions to enhance the shopping experience.

Customers can use an integrated smart technology system, including self-checkout machines, Smart Lockers, service robots and instant e-receipts. The comprehensive application of technology not only improves service quality but also helps create a professional and modern image for the retailer.

Food and beverage establishments are also actively adopting technology. Tuan Ruoi Restaurant in Hai Duong Ward is among the pioneers, having introduced robots to serve customers since 2025. The robots transport dishes from the kitchen to tables, detect obstacles, choose appropriate routes and automatically return to their charging stations when their batteries are low.

During service, the robots also interact with customers through friendly greetings and words of thanks, creating a novel experience. “The use of robots helps support my staff during busy periods, reduce their workload, improve service quality and create a distinctive impression for my restaurant,” said Nguyen Quoc Tuan, owner of the restaurant.

Driving development

Cashless payment is becoming increasingly common at markets in Hai Phong.

Alongside businesses’ proactive efforts, the city is implementing various measures to promote digital transformation in the trade and service sector.

The Department of Industry and Trade is coordinating with telecommunications and technology companies to expand the “Digital market – Cashless payment” model, helping vendors install QR codes, use e-wallets and access modern payment methods.

According to Vu Thi Kim Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, digital transformation is creating new momentum for the development of the city’s trade and service sector. In the coming time, the department will continue supporting businesses, cooperatives and household businesses in applying digital technology to management and business and promote the development of e-commerce and cashless payment.

Businesses’ proactive innovation efforts, public support and measures from management agencies are creating a foundation for digital transformation to continue spreading. This will be an important driving force for Hai Phong’s trade and service sector to develop in a modern and civilized direction, enhance its competitiveness and contribute positively to the city’s goal of developing the digital economy.
