Ring Road No. 1 creates momentum for development

Ring Road No. 1 drives economic growth

The Ring Road No. 1 project in Hai Duong spans over 30 km, starting from the intersection with Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard and passing through key junctions such as National Highway 37 (Thach Khoi Ward), Provincial Road 391 (Tan Hung Ward), Provincial Road 390C (Nam Dong Ward), and Provincial Road 390 (Ai Quoc Ward). The route then overlaps with Provincial Road 390 to Ben Han T-junction (Thanh Dong Ward), connecting with Provincial Road 390D.

From there, the route crosses the Thai Binh River, linking Thai Tan Commune with Tue Tinh Commune. It continues along part of Road 194B, intersects National Highway 5 at Tu Minh Ward, and runs through the main axis of Dai An Industrial Park. The route then follows Vu Cong Dan Street, turns left to cross the Sat River, and completes the loop at Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard.

According to the plan, by 2030, the road will meet at least Class II plain road standards, with a roadbed width of 42 meters.

Currently, several sections have been completed and put into operation, including Vo Van Kiet Boulevard (over 5.6 km), about 3 km overlapping Provincial Road 390, and more than 3.5 km passing through Dai An Industrial Park. These sections have initially proven effective, helping reduce congestion in the city center and facilitating goods transportation.

Other sections are under construction, including a 3.65 km stretch from Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard to the expanded Dai An Industrial Park, which broke ground in August 2025. Contractors are mobilizing manpower and equipment to accelerate progress, aiming for completion in 2026.

A key component of the project is the bridge crossing the Thai Binh River and its approach roads, with a total length of about 2.5 km. The bridge itself is 663 meters long and 22.5 meters wide, featuring four lanes for vehicles. With a total investment of over VND 1,200 billion, construction began in August 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2027. The project is currently being implemented simultaneously on both riverbanks and in the river, ensuring progress as planned. Once completed, the bridge will significantly shorten travel distances, enhance connectivity between the two sides of the river, and reduce pressure on existing bridges.

Alongside this, the Dai An Bridge project, with a total investment of around VND 250 billion, has a combined length of about 265 meters (including approach roads) and a cross-section width of 25 meters. It is under construction and will help complete the connectivity system between industrial parks and surrounding areas.

Notably, Ring Road No. 1 also serves as the starting point for a major East–West connecting route, with a total investment of approximately VND 19 trillion and a length of about 23.5 km. This route will extend from the western section of Ring Road No. 1 to the eastern part of Hai Phong, forming a key interregional transport axis and helping reduce pressure on National Highway 5.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, a real estate expert in Tan Hung Ward, Ring Road No. 1 is clearly shaping a new development corridor for the market. Since the implementation of key components such as the Thai Binh River bridge, investors have shown increasing interest in areas like Tan Hung, Nam Dong, and the vicinity of Dai An. “Once the East–West route is completed, it will further enhance the attractiveness of areas along Ring Road No. 1, driving strong growth in residential and commercial demand,” he noted.

Expanding development space

Beyond boosting economic growth, the Ring Road No. 1 project is also opening up new urban development space for Hai Phong. The route acts as a “development arc,” facilitating urban expansion toward suburban areas where land resources remain abundant.

The construction of the Thai Binh River bridge will ensure seamless connectivity between both riverbanks, creating opportunities for new urban zones. Areas such as Nam Dong, Ngoc Son, and Thanh Ha are gradually emerging as promising development hotspots thanks to improved infrastructure.

At the same time, Dai An Bridge and its feeder roads play a supporting role in enhancing connectivity between different areas, making travel between residential zones, industrial parks, and the city center more convenient.

Notably, once the East–West connecting route is implemented, areas along Ring Road No. 1 will form a large-scale new development corridor. Land along both sides of the route is considered to have strong potential for developing urban areas, service centers, and modern industrial zones.

In reality, the development of transport infrastructure is already bringing visible changes to the urban landscape. Suburban areas that were previously underutilized are gradually transforming into new residential zones, helping redistribute population and reduce pressure on central areas.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Huy, a resident of Thach Khoi Ward who frequently transports goods between Hai Duong and Hai Phong, he has high expectations for the ongoing infrastructure projects. Currently, transportation mainly depends on National Highway 5, which often suffers from congestion and delays. Once the new routes are completed—especially with the Thai Binh River bridge and the East–West road—travel will become much more convenient, distances will be shortened, transportation costs reduced, and work efficiency significantly improved.
