The National Press Festival 2026 concluded on June 21 in Hai Phong after a three-day event that highlighted innovation, creativity and the growing role of digital transformation in Vietnamese journalism.

Held at the Hai Phong Convention and Performance Centre under the theme “Vietnamese Journalism – Loyal, Creative and Responsible in a New Era,” the event brought together press agencies, journalism associations, as well as training and research institutions nationwide.

The closing ceremony was attended by Party Central Committee members: Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association; and Do Tien Sy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and Director General of Voice of Vietnam, alongside representatives from central ministries, agencies, and press organizations.

Hai Phong city leaders attending the event included Le Ngoc Chau, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee; Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee; Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Hai Phong Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; and Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

This year’s festival featured 87 exhibition booths showcasing outstanding journalistic works across politics, economy, culture, society, defense, security and foreign affairs, offering a comprehensive picture of the country’s media landscape.
Many press agencies presented multimedia products and applied emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D modelling and virtual reality, reflecting the sector’s efforts to innovate and adapt to the digital era.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association, said the 2026 event had developed in both scope and depth with strong participation from central and local press agencies, as well as journalism training institutions.

He noted that the modern and synchronized design of 87 exhibition booths, while maintaining cultural identity, created a vivid panorama of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in the context of digital transformation.

He also highlighted that discussions at the festival focused on key issues such as restructuring media outlets, developing the journalism economy, and improving communication of public policies at the local level. These discussions provided valuable insights and practical lessons for journalists in the digital age.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association Nguyen Duc Loi added that although the festival had concluded, its messages of “Loyalty – Creativity – Responsibility” would continue to guide and inspire journalists in the coming years.
