The high-speed road connecting the east and west of Hai Phong will shorten travel time and maximize land use, creating space for the city’s socio-economic development.
On the afternoon of August 14, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Anh Quan inspected the construction of a high-speed road connecting the east and west of Hai Phong city.
After inspecting the site and listening to opinions from representatives of relevant departments, agencies, and units, Vice Chairman Le Anh Quan stressed that the high-speed road project is essential, contributing to the formation of a transport axis linking the two urban centers of the former Hai Duong city and Hai Phong city.
“Once operational, the route will shorten travel time, optimize land use, and create development space for the city after the merger,” said Quan.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee generally agreed on the proposed alignment and the investment scale with a roadbed width of 68 m. The Department of Construction and the consulting unit will continue to study and refine the plan to ensure the most feasible option.
According to the proposed plan, the high-speed road will have a length of 23.5 km and estimated investment cost of 19,129 billion VND. The route is expected to pass through the communes and wards of Nam Dong, Ai Quoc, Ha Tay, Thanh Ha, Ha Bac, Ha Nam, Kim Thanh, An Phong, and An Duong.
The starting point will be at the intersection of Ring Road I in the former Hai Duong city, and the endpoint will be at the intersection of National Highway 10 with Nguyen Truong To street. The investment form will be public-private partnership (PPP), under a build-transfer (BT) contract with 100% capital mobilized from investors, or combined with the budget to attract investors.
