Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau expressed hope that companies under LG Group in the city will take a deeper part in developing smart urban and digital transformation initiatives.

Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau paid a working visit to companies under LG Group in the city on November 26.
At the meeting, representatives of LG Display, LG Electronics, and LG Innotek under the LG complex reported on their 2025 production and business performance, plans for the coming years, and the progress of investment expansion and ongoing projects.

The companies proposed several issues requiring coordination from the city, including energy infrastructure, particularly the demand for clean energy, tariff policies related to production and export activities, and other matters arising during project operation.
Chairman Le Ngoc Chau expressed strong support for the development strategies of the LG companies in Hai Phong. He suggested that LG Display soon implement the remaining portion of its previously committed 5 billion USD investment, while also studying production expansion and attracting additional satellite companies and suppliers in the production chain investing in Hai Phong.

The city has prepared adequate clean land in industrial parks, particularly Trang Due 3, and is committed to ensuring the most favorable conditions in terms of procedures and support throughout project implementation. The city also encourages the group’s companies to consider expanding investment into the city free trade zone.
The chairman expressed hope that the companies would play a deeper role in developing smart urban and digital transformation initiatives to support local governance and socio-economic development.

LG Group is encouraged to consider establishing a research and development center in Hai Phong directly linked to production activities. Hai Phong commits to offering the highest incentives permitted by regulations, including tax incentives and financial support from the Investment Support Fund, to facilitate the formation of a large-scale research and development center, with the goal of making Hai Phong one of the group’s major high-tech hubs.
Regarding supply chain development, the chairman recommended LG to expand opportunities for Vietnamese companies, especially those in Hai Phong, to take part more deeply in its supply chain, thereby increasing localization rates and promoting local supporting industries. He also asked LG Display to prioritize completing dormitory facilities for workers, while the group’s companies continue supporting employees in accessing social housing, helping ensure stable, long-term living conditions.

For the companies’ proposals, the chairman assigned relevant departments and agencies to establish a task force to coordinate and resolve issues as quickly as possible, promptly addressing any difficulties arising during implementation. The city will continue accompanying LG Group and providing maximum support based on the principle of “harmonized benefits, shared risks,” considering LG’s success as its own.
Over the past time, LG companies have reaffirmed their role as Hai Phong’s largest FDI investors and key growth drivers, with cumulative investment exceeding 10.65 billion USD, export turnover in 2024 reaching 17 billion USD, accounting for more than 50% of the city’s total exports, budget contributions hitting 1.79 trillion VND; and monthly income averaging 16.7 million VND for nearly 27,000 workers.
Throughout their operations, the companies have strictly complied with legal regulations; actively participated in the city’s social welfare activities such as donating 6 billion VND to support post-typhoon Yagi recovery, providing scholarships for students, and building great unity houses; and strengthened cooperation in training high-quality human resources with local universities.
