The Cat Bi Victory Monument Park will serve as an artistic landmark at Hai Phong’s important gateway, reflecting cultural and historical traditions, national pride, and international integration.
On the afternoon of August 21, the Standing Board of the Hai Phong Party Committee reviewed and gave opinions on the investment in the Cat Bi Victory Monument Park project.
According to the proposal by the Party Committee of the city People’s Committee, the project will be built at Cat Bi International Airport in Hai An ward, with a total investment of 119.6 billion VND from the city’s public investment. The implementation period is set for 2025 – 2027.
The project aims to build a modern technical infrastructure park, seamlessly connected with the local transportation and infrastructure system. It will serve as an artistic landmark at the city’s important gateway, reflecting cultural and historical traditions, national pride, and international integration, while affirming the citizens’ aspiration for peace. The park will also carry significant historical, cultural, and educational values.
The park will cover an estimated area of 2.68 ha. Its components will include infrastructure, courtyards, a square, green spaces, lawns, restrooms, internal roads, sidewalks, parking lots, etc.
The monument itself will be 14.4 m tall, made of bronze, and placed on a cylindrical pedestal 9.9 m in diameter, built of reinforced concrete and clad with stone reliefs, with a height of 4.5 m.
The pedestal reliefs will depict condensed images of the Cat Bi victory, conveying the message: “The past is the foundation for the future,” creating a distinctive visual landmark and symbolically connecting to the glorious victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
After listening to suggestions at the meeting, Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau concluded that the Cat Bi Victory Monument Park project at holds great importance and necessity, aligning with approved plans and ensuring funding.
The Standing Board of the city Party Committee agreed to approve the investment policy, assigning the Party Committee of the city People’s Committee to direct implementation in accordance with regulations, with attention to criteria, standards, architecture, and technical requirements, as well as ensuring progress on schedule.
