Secretary Le Tien Chau emphasized that Hai Phong is always committed to providing maximum support to enterprises in surveying, researching, and investing in the city. The city considers the success of businesses as its own success. He urged the group to soon visit Hai Phong for on-site surveys to make investment decisions.

Also attending the meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said Hai Phong is the “shipbuilding capital” of the North, with all favorable conditions for developing this industry. Shipbuilding cooperation between Hai Phong and Korean ship operators has been in place for many years, yielding fruitful results.

Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai Ki Sun Chung expressed his pleasure in sharing with the Hai Phong delegation and the Ministry of Industry and Trade the cooperation projects the group is currently implementing in Vietnam.

Based on Hai Phong’s long-standing shipbuilding tradition and experience, the group is seriously studying investment opportunities in the city. It will soon send a team to Hai Phong to gain deeper insights into the investment process and seek potential partners.

On the morning of the same day, Secretary Le Tien Chau and the Hai Phong delegation worked with the KIST to strengthen cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and technology transfer.

This activity is part of Hai Phong’s international cooperation programs, aiming to make the city a leading science and technology hub in the region.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue implementing the memorandum of understanding signed in April 2024; promote the signing of a tripartite cooperation agreement between the city People’s Committee, the KIST, and HB Advisors on technology transfer; and boost agreements between the Department of Science and Technology and KIST units in key fields such as new materials, biotechnology, robotics, artificial intelligence, clean energy, environmental treatment, and support for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The KIST affirmed its readiness to support the development of a specialized science and technology industrial park or cluster and requested the city to introduce suitable partners; assist in establishing a medical research center in Hai Phong; and expand cooperation by prioritizing the use of KIST-trained human resources currently working in Vietnam.

This marks an important step in expanding international cooperation, adopting advanced technologies, and enhancing Hai Phong’s innovation capacity.

* On August 12 morning, a delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong paid a courtesy visit to leaders of Suwon city to discuss issues of mutual interest.
