In 2025, building on outstanding academic achievements in national and international competitions, together with impressive high school graduation results, Hai Phong’s education sector continued to rank among the top nationwide.

Strong Performance in Both Specialized and General Education
The year 2025 marked another notable chapter for Hai Phong’s specialized education, as sustained efforts in identifying and nurturing gifted students were translated into remarkable achievements at the city’s specialized high schools.
According to Mr. Bui Huu Hai, Vice Principal of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, the school secured 97 national awards in the 2024–2025 academic year, an increase of eight compared with the previous year. At Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that the city’s consistent investment in facilities, teaching staff, and supportive policies has enabled the school to continuously innovate and enhance the quality of education for the gifted. In the same academic year, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted recorded 101 national awards.
These two flagship specialized schools reflect an increasingly positive and dynamic picture of Hai Phong’s specialized education. These academic achievements have been consolidated, helping the city remain among the country’s leading localities in terms of both the number and quality of awards at national academic competitions. In 2025, students from Hai Phong won a total of 199 national awards, ranking third nationwide and reaffirming the city’s strong tradition in talent development.
Beyond specialized education, Hai Phong’s general education system has also demonstrated stability and steady improvement. In the 2024–2025 academic year, the city’s average scores and overall results in the national high school graduation examination remained among the top ten nationwide, while the graduation rate exceeded 99.5 percent. Many students confidently entered leading universities across the country, with several emerging as top scorers, bringing pride to their families, schools, and the port city of Hai Phong.

Advancing Toward a National Education and Training Hub
Hai Phong’s education sector is entering a new phase of development as the education and training system continue to expand in both scope and depth, reinforcing the city’s role as a regional center. The city currently has 1,648 educational institutions from preschool to high school level, serving more than one million students. The teaching workforce continues to be improved in both quantity and quality.
The Standing Committee of the Hai Phong Party Committee has issued Action Program No. 02 to implement the Politburo’s Resolution No. 71 on breakthrough development in education and training. The program sets out a clear goal of positioning Hai Phong as one of the country’s leading education and training centers, maintaining a core role in developing high-quality human resources for the Red River Delta, and becoming an international hub for education, research, scientific and technological application, and the marine economy.
Director of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, Luong Van Viet, said that in 2025 the department coordinated with relevant agencies to develop, finalize, and submit to the municipal People’s Committee for consideration and approval the project “Development of Hai Phong Education and Training to 2030, with a Vision to 2045,” scheduled for implementation from 2026.
These strategic orientations, together with the notable achievements recorded in 2025, are expected to create strong momentum for Hai Phong’s education sector to continue advancing its position among the nation’s top performers, and nurturing generations of knowledgeable, capable, and aspirational citizens committed for the city’s sustainable development.
