From medals at international Olympiads to outstanding achievements in intellectual competitions, Hai Phong students are increasingly demonstrating their abilities, confidence and ambition to reach new heights on the global stage.

Proud achievements
As Hai Phong continues its journey of integration and development, its education sector has affirmed its standing not only through comprehensive educational quality but also through achievements in international intellectual competitions. From Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics to innovation contests, students in the port city are increasingly demonstrating their ability to overcome challenges, think creatively and embrace international integration. Each achievement helps affirm the quality of education while showcasing students’ confidence and ambition to reach greater heights.
For many years, students from Tran Phu Gifted High School have regularly been selected for national teams competing in international and regional Olympiads, contributing to Hai Phong education’s success on the global stage.
Notably, in the 2023–2024 academic year, four students from the school, as members of national teams, won a total of five medals at international and regional competitions. Earlier, at the 2023 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), both students from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students who participated won medals, including one gold and one silver. These results highlight Hai Phong students’ contributions to the overall achievements of Vietnam’s national teams.
Over the past decade, students from the school have won more than 30 awards at international Olympiads. Since 2019, the school has consistently ranked among the country’s top five schools in both the number and quality of prizes won at national excellent-student competitions, affirming its leading role in nurturing talent for the city.

Alongside Tran Phu Gifted High School, students from Nguyen Trai Gifted High School have also made a strong impression on the international intellectual stage. According to Mr. Le Van Luc, the school’s principal, in the 2024–2025 academic year, a student from the school won a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad held in Turkmenistan.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, a student from the school won a gold medal at the Asian Chemistry Olympiad. Meanwhile, two students took part in the national selection examination for Vietnam’s 2026 International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence team. Achievements across multiple fields demonstrate that Hai Phong’s gifted education is gradually expanding and keeping pace with developments in science and technology.
Outstanding student talent is evident not only in specialized academic competitions for gifted-school students but also in international intellectual and creativity contests open to students of various ages. Each year, students across the city win thousands of awards in international competitions.
Notably, at a recent international creativity and technology competition for primary school students, two teams from Vo Thi Sau Primary School in An Bien Ward achieved outstanding results. The STORMS LEGO team won second place, while the Steel Dragons team received the Team Model Award.
These competitions continue to showcase students’ creativity, collaborative spirit and ability to apply knowledge in practical situations.

The city gives particular priority to budgetary resources for education and training. In 2026 alone, recurrent expenditure on education, training and vocational education is VND 16,238.570 billion. Combined with approximately VND 2,400 billion in public investment, total budget expenditure on education and training is estimated at VND 18,638.570 billion, accounting for 20.54% of total local budget expenditure.
Resolution No. 46/2025, which took effect on January 1, 2026, replacing Resolution No. 06/2018, establishes mechanisms and policies for training and developing outstanding students, as well as selecting, employing and providing incentives for managers and teachers involved in preparing students for national, regional and international competitions. The resolution has motivated students to strive for academic excellence while encouraging teachers to further develop their professional expertise and dedicate themselves to identifying and nurturing talent, helping raise Hai Phong’s standing in international education.
Teachers play a particularly pivotal role in translating investment policies into educational quality. The city is focused on developing incentive mechanisms that enable outstanding teachers to dedicate themselves to their work with confidence. The education sector also emphasizes professional training, skills development and innovation in talent development methods.
At the same time, teachers proactively study teaching materials, update their knowledge, identify each student’s strengths and help them build on their potential. This enables them to develop appropriate training pathways and prepare students to compete confidently in national, regional and international examinations.
These achievements provide a foundation for Hai Phong’s education sector to further strengthen its position on the international stage. According to Mr. Do Duy Hung, Deputy Director of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, alongside investment in facilities and the development of teachers’ professional capabilities, the city will continue to focus on identifying and nurturing talented students at all educational levels, encouraging their passion for research and innovation, and creating opportunities for them to develop their strengths.
These efforts lay the groundwork for today’s achievements to inspire future generations of Hai Phong students to reach new heights, demonstrating Vietnamese determination and intellectual prowess on the international stage.
