Hai Phong maintains its leading position nationwide in education quality

Quality rises in both specialized and mainstream education

In 2025–2026, more than 1.11 million students across Hai Phong were enrolled at 1,631 educational institutions. Amid demands for innovation and quality improvement, the city’s education system maintained steady growth and remained firmly in the national top tier.

In specialized education, consecutive years of strong results have underscored the depth of work in identifying and nurturing gifted students.

According to teacher Le Van Luc from Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, in 2025–2026, its students won 98 national-level prizes, up by one from the previous school year. Behind each award lies the sustained effort of teachers and students on their journey to master knowledge.

Tran Phu High School for the Gifted has also remained a standout in specialized education. Teacher Hoang Anh Tuan said synchronized investment in facilities and teaching staff, together with city-level support policies, has created a solid foundation for the school to continuously raise teaching and learning quality. In 2025–2026, its students secured 109 national gifted-student prizes, an increase of eight over the prior year.

Beyond the highlights in specialized education, mainstream education is building a broad and sustainable foundation for the city’s comprehensive education system. In 2025–2026, the high school graduation rate reached 99.31%. The average score in the 2026 national high school graduation exam was 6.171, ranking third nationally and up three places from 2025. Enrollment of five-year-olds in preschool reached 99.31%, and 99.98% of primary students completed their programs.

Expanding opportunities, driving breakthroughs in the new school year

Entering the 2026–2027 school year, Hai Phong’s education sector has additional room to break through in scale, resources, and development space. Following restructuring, the network has been streamlined from 1,440 to 870 public educational institutions, alongside 200 private ones. The teaching workforce and management cadres have been further strengthened, with the proportion of teachers meeting qualification standards at all levels higher than the national average. Notably, more than 2,292 holders of master’s and doctoral degrees are providing an additional foundation for Hai Phong to elevate education quality in the new phase.

Under the theme ‘Innovating Mindsets – Strong Shifts – Tangible Results’, the education and training sector must both sustain quality and take the lead in preparing human resources for a transforming Hai Phong, especially in high-tech fields, seaports and logistics, the marine economy, green manufacturing, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence.

Alongside these demands is a commitment of resources and responsibilities. The city will continue to prioritize and remove obstacles for the education sector, ensuring that every budget resource creates additional learning opportunities, every policy reaches learners and teachers, and every reform initiative delivers real change. This will create foundation for Hai Phong not only to maintain its top position, but also to steadily climb to higher levels on its journey to elevate education and training.
