Helping students overcome hardships

Gifts that provide encouragement

300 primary and junior high school students in Phu Lien and Kien An wards have received assistance under the "Learning Support for Disadvantaged Students for the 2025 – 2026 School Year" project, funded by the Tzu Chi Foundation (Taiwan, China) through coordination by the Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations. Each primary school student received VND 1.5 million, while each junior high school one received VND 2.5 million.

Van der Leun Vietnam Co., Ltd. has donated 40 bicycles worth more than VND 70 million to disadvantaged students at primary, junior high, and senior high school levels in Luu Kiem Ward. The bicycles are not only a means of transportation to school but also a source of encouragement, motivating the students to continue striving in their studies.

According to the schools, the value of these gifts lies not only in their material support but also in the confidence and motivation they give students to continue attending school. "For disadvantaged students, timely support from organizations and businesses is especially meaningful. These gifts not only provide them with better learning conditions but also serve as a great source of encouragement," said Do Anh Dung, Principal of Tran Hung Dao Junior High School in Luu Kiem Ward.

International support fosters community responsibility

The abovementioned support activities are part of international cooperation programs currently being implemented in Hai Phong to assist disadvantaged students.

Anly den Breejen, a representative of Van der Leun Group (the Netherlands), said: "As a company operating in Hai Phong, we always want to contribute more to the local community. We hope these bicycles will make it easier for the students to travel to school, allowing them to focus on their studies and pursue their dreams. In the coming time, we will continue working with local authorities and social organizations, especially on programs supporting disadvantaged children and students."

During the 2025 – 2026 school year, about 1,000 students across the city will also benefit from the "Learning Support for Disadvantaged Pupils and Students" project funded by the Tzu Chi Foundation.

According to Nguyen Van Nhang, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations, during the first six months of the year, the union coordinated with foreign non-governmental organizations to implement 10 programs and projects, with total disbursements of about VND 28 billion. These programs focused on education, healthcare, social welfare, support for women, children, and people with disabilities, housing construction, school sanitation facilities, livelihood support, and community development, helping mobilize resources to care for vulnerable groups.

In addition, many foreign-invested enterprises have actively joined these efforts. The effectiveness of these support programs demonstrates that the combined efforts of organizations, local authorities, businesses, and international partners have created more favorable conditions for students to overcome difficulties in life, while encouraging broader participation across society in caring for and supporting the younger generation.
