The business community has helped Hai Phong become the only locality in Vietnam to maintain double-digit GRDP growth for 10 consecutive years, with a clearly shifting economic structure toward industrialization, modernization, digitalization, and green growth.

Hai Phong aims that by 2030, it will have over 87,000 active enterprises and at least three major companies participating in global value chains. By that time, the private sector will grow at 14.5 – 15% per year, contribute 43 – 45% of GRDP and 55 – 57% of domestic budget revenue (excluding land use fees), and employ 60 – 62% of the workforce, with labor productivity increasing by 9.5 – 10% annually.

The city will also strive for more than 85% of entrepreneurs to hold college or university degrees, 3.5 – 4% of private enterprises to rank among Vietnam’s top 500, at least two among the top 100, and to develop regional-scale companies with national brands playing key roles in global value chains.

Hai Phong commits to supporting sustainable business growth

Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said that for Hai Phong’s business community to grow inclusively and sustainably, the city should continue to promote institutional and administrative reform, digitalize all administrative procedures, and reduce business costs.

Vinh suggested that Hai Phong develop the private sector as a main driver of growth, assign private enterprise development targets to each administrative level, and introduce financial, trade promotion, and digital transformation support policies for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
