To mark the 64th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 – 2025), the Hai Phong Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin held a ceremony on August 8 to launch the 2025 “Joining hands to soothe the Agent Orange pain” campaign, receive donations and present gifts and wheelchairs to victims.

Over nearly 20 years since its establishment, the city Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has proactively coordinated with various sectors and authorities to advise the city leadership on budget allocation, while mobilizing agencies, units, organizations, and individuals both domestically and abroad to support victims in diverse, practical ways, helping them overcome difficulties and integrate into the community.

After the merger with Hai Duong province, Hai Phong now has more than 14,300 people affected by toxic chemicals who are receiving State benefits. These include 10,425 veterans who participated in the resistance war and 3,880 of their children. Nearly 800 grandchildren (third generation) affected by Agent Orange have not yet received benefits, and over 2,000 families have two to five victims.

Most victims face severe hardships, lacking both material and emotional support, unable to work, and relying mainly on State allowances and help from philanthropists.

As part of the event, the city Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin launched the 2025 “Joining hands to soothe the Agent Orange pain” campaign with the theme “Livelihood and integration,” offering two channels for donations: scanning a QR code or transferring funds to account number 1961, account name “Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin Fund” at Military Bank (MB); or donating through the city association’s office (for aggregation and submission to the Central association, with public announcements at the city association).

All donations will be used for medical treatment, medicine supply, vocational training, and livelihood support for victims in difficult circumstances across the country.
