In 2026, employees across Vietnam will enjoy a total of 25 days off for public holidays. In addition to 11 officially mandated public holidays, employees will have an additional 14 days of compensatory leave or consecutive days off resulting from holidays falling on weekly rest days or swapped working days, bringing the total to 25 days off.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially announced the 2026 public holiday schedule for public employees nationwide.
Following the four-day New Year holiday, the longest break of the year will be the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse), with nine consecutive days off. This period includes five official Tet holidays and four weekly days off. The Tet holiday will run from February 14, 2026 (December 27 according to lunar calendar) to February 22 (January 6 according to lunar calendar).
In addition, Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day falls on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Employees will therefore receive a compensatory day off, from Saturday, April 25 to Monday, April 27.
Later in April, the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Employees' Day (May 1) holidays, together with weekly rest days, will result in a four-day break.
The final public holiday of 2026 is National Day, which will last five days, including two official National Day holidays, two weekend days, and one swapped working day.
According to the 2019 Labor Code, employees who work overtime on public holidays or paid days off are entitled to at least 300% of their regular wage, excluding the salary for the paid days off as prescribed for daily-paid employees.
