Construction continues through holiday on Hai Phong's key projects

Celebrating holiday on construction sites

This year's National Day holiday lasts five days. While many people travel or gather with family and friends, construction fronts at the city's key projects continue operating steadily, making the most of the holiday to accelerate the progress of each project item.

At the Tan Vu - Hung Dao - Bui Vien section of Ring Road 2, Vu Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the project management unit, said that, as required, the road must open to traffic before January 31, 2027, and be completed and put into use before April 30, 2027. Therefore, the project owner has required contractors for the project's six construction packages to maintain all equipment and personnel and carry out construction continuously throughout the September 2 National Day holiday. Accordingly, nearly 200 machines and pieces of equipment, along with more than 450 engineers, workers and construction supervision consultants, will spend the National Day holiday at the construction site.

In the western part of the city, construction is also proceeding urgently on several key transport projects, including the road and Van bridge connecting National Highway 37 with the approach road to Trieu bridge; Tan An bridge and its approach road connecting to National Highway 18; and Thai Binh river bridge and its approach road on Ring Road 1, from Provincial Road 391 to Provincial Road 390C.

Nguyen Duy Long, site commander for the construction of the road and Van bridge connecting National Highway 37 with the approach road to Trieu bridge, under Investment and Construction JSC No. 18, said all engineers, workers and machine operators have determined to spend the National Day holiday at the construction site. Therefore, construction teams are maintaining a “three shifts, four crews” schedule, simultaneously working on the roadbed, bridge girder erection and girder casting to ensure the project's progress.

A non-negotiable mandate

At recent inspections and meetings to hear reports on the progress of key transport projects in the city, most recently the meeting on August 22, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Ngoc Chau set deadlines for the completion of many projects.

Amid pressure to meet the deadlines, relevant agencies are stepping up reviews and assessments of contractors' capacity and taking various measures to address difficulties.

A representative of the leadership of the Hai Phong Transport Construction Project Management Board said that five key transport projects for which the unit is the project owner have been assigned completion deadlines. It is closely monitoring the progress of each construction package and project and requiring contractors to increase manpower, equipment and financial resources and organize multiple construction fronts.

At the same time, the project owner is reviewing the capacity of contractors to take corrective measures or reallocate workloads from contractors that fail to meet capacity requirements. Although the progress requirements are very stringent, the project owner has asked construction supervision consultants to strictly control construction quality, material quality, occupational safety and environmental sanitation.

The continued construction of the city's key projects throughout the National Day holiday demonstrates a strong determination to bring the projects to completion as planned. Construction throughout the holiday will help maintain momentum and accelerate project progress, thereby speeding up the disbursement of public investment funds and making a practical contribution to achieving the city's GRDP growth target of 13% in 2026.
