Speaking at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Spain on March 3, Viettel announced an accelerated roadmap to research, develop and commercialize 6G technologies under its own technological mastery.
Under its strategic orientation, 6G is envisioned as an AI-native network architecture, embedding artificial intelligence comprehensively across devices, network infrastructure and cloud computing platforms. The technology is being developed around three core pillars: next-generation connectivity, large-scale sensing capabilities and high-performance computing power.
Viettel said it is actively participating in research on 6G architecture, with plans to conduct early trials of pre-commercial systems and equipment in 2028, contribute to international standardization processes and prepare for commercial deployment beginning in 2029.
On the sidelines of the event, Viettel also announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to establish a strategic partnership in AI-integrated smart mobile devices. Under the agreement, the two sides aim to jointly develop and commercialize a flagship line of AI-enabled smartphones, marking a step forward in Vietnam’s ambition to advance high-tech manufacturing and digital innovation.
