Vietnam Maritime University has signed cooperation agreements with partners in Panama and Croatia and joined the International Executive Board (IEB) of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) for the 2027-2029 term.

As part of a ceremony for exchange of Vietnam-Panama cooperation documents during the official visit to Vietnam by Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino and his spouse from October 5 to 8, Vietnam Maritime University (VMU) and the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) signed a memorandum of understanding in the presence of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and President José Raúl Mulino.
The two universities will promote cooperation in education, scientific research and professional exchanges, focusing on maritime transport and logistics, marine engineering technology, marine biology and fisheries, marine science, marine resource management, maritime management and safety, and maritime systems engineering.
Cooperation activities will include exchanges of lecturers, experts, researchers, undergraduate students and postgraduate students; knowledge and professional experience sharing; and application of information and communications technology in teaching, research, continuing education and professional development.

During its participation in the meetings of IAMU at AGA26, held in Split, Croatia, from October 5 to 10, VMU was officially elected to IEB for the 2027–2029 term.
As part of the event, VMU signed a memorandum of understanding with the Faculty of Maritime Studies at the University of Rijeka in Croatia, aiming to promote cooperation in education and scientific research, particularly the sharing of experience in developing international scientific journals.
These achievements will help expand VMU's international partnership network, demonstrate its proactive approach to global integration and strengthen its standing in the international maritime community.
