Urgent efforts to accelerate Nguyen Trai bridge construction

Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau has required that the construction schedule of the Nguyen Trai bridge packages be shortened by 6 - 11 months.
The construction atmosphere at package No. 15 (construction of the bridge, approach roads and interchange) is highly urgent. All units are working toward the goal of shortening the construction time by 11 months as directed by Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau.Site clearance at the old apartment blocks on Nguyen Trai and May To streets has been completed by Ngo Quyen ward authorities. Demolition work is being carried out urgently to hand over a clean site to the construction unit as soon as possible.Package No. 15, with a construction value of 1.435 trillion VND, is being accelerated and is expected to be completed in December 2026.The approach bridge section on Nguyen Trai street, Ngo Quyen ward, is being expedited by contractors.On the bank in Thuy Nguyen ward, the bridge piers are now extending toward the Cam river.A worker inspects an approach bridge pier in Thuy Nguyen ward.Units are realizing their plans to increase manpower and resources and extend working hours, striving to complete packages in line with the direction of the chairman of the city People’s Committee.In September and October, storms caused the Cam river water level to rise, creating significant difficulties for the construction of package No. 14 (construction of the main bridge and cable-stayed section). After the water receded, the contractor mobilized maximum manpower and equipment to resume construction immediately.The project’s two main construction packages are being shortened by 6 - 11 months, with the goal of completing and opening the bridge to traffic on National Day (September 2) in 2027.
