Results of 16th National Assembly election expected to be announced on March 22

The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term has recorded initial success, with many positive results.

According to preliminary figures, voter turnout nationwide reached about 99.68%, reflecting the public’s strong sense of responsibility and active response to this important political event.

Preliminary statistics submitted to the National Election Council show that all 34 provinces and cities recorded turnout above 99%. Notably, the four localities with the highest turnout, at 99.99%, were Lao Cai, Hue City, Tuyen Quang, and Vinh Long.

Following election day, the National Election Council and local election committees are continuing to carry out a range of important tasks to complete the electoral process in accordance with the law, ensuring that the results faithfully reflect the will and aspirations of voters.

According to regulations, the election results and the list of elected deputies to the 16th National Assembly must be announced no later than 10 days after Election Day, that is, before March 25, 2026.

Based on the election results, the competent authorities will review and certify the eligibility of those elected to the National Assembly and People’s Councils. The National Assembly Standing Committee will issue certificates to deputies elected to the 16th National Assembly, while local authorities will certify deputies elected to People’s Councils at all levels. This work is expected to be completed in early April 2026 before the first session of the 16th National Assembly, which is scheduled to open on April 6, 2026.

Speaking at the fourth conference of the Party Committee of the National Assembly for the 2025-2030 term on the afternoon of March 16, Tran Thanh Man, National Assembly Chairman and President of the National Election Council, said that localities are continuing to compile and carefully review results before reporting them to the council.
